South by Southwest! The whole band's in Austin for sunshine, frivolity, etc. Also for performances!
MONDAY: Front and his gentleman companions are the 'surprise' headliner at Nerd Carnival. It's free and thrilling. And UX front-end folks with skillz in Ember.JS and Angular.JS will probably leave the venue with an insanely fancy job offer from the party's hosts.
TUESDAY: The official SXSW showcase is at Flamingo Cantina on 6th. Any festival badge gets you in (including film and interactive) and in past years there have also been tix avail at the door. Come find out.
THURSDAY: Day show! It's the Real Genius Nerdcore Variety Show, at The Badlands on Chicon at E 12th. Starts around 3PM (despite what the event page may say). A little after 7, it turns into a burlesque extravaganza. Huzzah!
REST OF THE WEEK: Buy front a drink and tell him everything is going to be okay! Lately he is not so sure.
After that? The band wanders back east for Anime Boston, where they headline on April 4th. Front promises to nod politely when you explain who you're dressed as.
One other thing to be excited about: animator Chad Essley is right on the verge of launching a big ol' charity auction in benefit of the EFF. You can get hand-drawn frames from his video for Front's song Shudders from Question Bedtime, glasses, shirts, and lots more. Stay tuned.
The new video is out! Head to yootoobs or Flavorwire to check out START OVER, directed by Alicia J Rose, and download the single for your own personal jam upcranking. The album is, as ever, available to own.
Front's headed back to the stage: SCaLE in Los Angeles 2/21, PAX in Boston 3/7, The Middle East in Cambridge 3/9 (with Freezepop!), and several shows at SXSW in Austin from 3/15-3/23. The gig calendar serves up details, pipin' hot.
Glad tidings to all nerd folk in this, the year of our fronting, two thousand and fifteen!
Our MC hopes you will keep track of him on his most active internetty feeds: the twidder, the fussbooks, the gurgle-plus, the tumbling, the insulargram, even il vino. Because he is not so good at keeping his site 'news' up to date.
So! What is even happening? There are two videos out from the new album, Question Bedtime: Gold Locks which features Jean Grae and Gabrielle Sterbenz, with cello magic from Unwoman, directed by BroSis at a terrifying cabin outside of Los Angeles; also the beautifully animated Shudders featuring Kid Koala and the Protomen, directed by Chad Essley. Two new Question Bedtime videos are brewing and will be on the yootoobs mighty soon. The album is here at frontalot.com, and on bandcamp, amazon, itunes, etc!
Front would be pretty psyched if you buy that album. He worked hard on it for three years! Also, his home got burgled a few weeks ago and he's feeling a bit broke. The store has plenty of other stuff, if you'd prefer to keep getting your music beamed from the non-payin' Spotify on the fly.
The band remains in recovery mode from the several months so recently spent on the road -- and they thank you heartily for having stopped by to see them all over the USA, UK, and at PAX Australia. Speaking of PAXes...
Catch the gents funking everything sideways at the innaugural PAX South on Jan 23, then at PAX East on the weekend of March 6th. There are a handful of remaining Pinny Arcade pins to acquire, weird new con-only merch, and all sorts of elbow bumps and photo opportunities to be had at the Bandland booth. Front loves to meet you there. Get met.
Front's also headed to SCaLE Feb 19-22 in Los Angeles for a show with DJ CPU. It will be the debut of some brand new version of that venerable DJ, as the most recent one got swiped in the aforementioned burglary. Burglaries: not that great!
Thank you, and good evening.
