NEWS FROM THE FRONT 5.15.08

Frontalot toils furiously to make many new songs! Soon, they will all be found together on a single disc. How soon? Not soon enough.

Instead! Coming up almost immediately: On The Rain-Slick Precipice Of Darkness: Episode One, which is the Penny Arcade game, which has a brand spanking new Frontalot track embedded somewhere, and we won't mention where. But here be hinting: if you've gotten to the final boss and still haven't heard it, woe is you.

Going to be in Florida for super explodey patriotism day? Better get your ticket to Nerdapalooza. There's a buttload of nerdcore rappers coming, plus wizard rockers, plus who knows what kind of tomfoolery. Established Frontalot cohorts Schaffer, YT, Whoremoans, DJ Snyder, FFBs, Random and Lars are expected, as well as plenty of folks Front's been itching to see onstage, such as Wordburglar, ZeaLouS1, Myf of Metamystics, funky49, EPP, and Dual Core.

Rocking the new Chris album? Yeah, same here.

Burlington, VT is where to see Nerdcore Rising: The Movie this weekend! In fact, a benefit screening for the Vermont International Film Festival occurs at Palace 9 on Shelburne Road, Sunday May 4th, at 7pm. Tickets are available at the theater. See the VTIFF site, see the movie, see the director there.

5.1.08

Vids ahoy! A couple of TV things posted on the videos page. Interviews from ROFLcon (at Pop17) and SxSW (at GETV, Variety, RealTV). Enjoy!

4.26.08

ROFLcon is kind of fun! Jason Scott's talk on ye goode olde dayes was the best thing so far. Front got introduced to tons of people whose work he admires, including Randall, Ryan, Brad, Joey, and Leslie. Also, he wandered around with some favored web comics peoples with whom he was already acquainted, namely Jeff, Rich, and Chris. Scott introduced him to Drew. Now Frontalot is on a first name basis with the whole internet.

What else? He went to a screening of NR:TM too? And everyone stayed for 1:35 AM Q&A and were nice and Boston rules? Yes to each. For you: still time to see Sunday's showing, plus there's a Front concert, and Prince Paul spins at it. Make it so.

4.21.08

Boston! Check out the NR:TM site's current post for info on how to get in free to the Frontalot / Prince Paul concert Sunday night. Requires immediate action, also small amount of luckiness. Hop on it.

4.14.08

You anywhere near Atlanta? Still one chance to see Nerdcore Rising: The Movie down there. It's at 2:40 PM on Tuesday at the Landmark, 931 Monroe Dr NE. If you are in IT, you will take off of work for "technology training (ongoing)." If you are a student, just play hookie. Tix here.

Front caught the Gnarls Barkley show in Manhattan the other night. He was kind of expecting Dangermouse on the cuts and Cee-Lo with a microphone. Instead it was a glorious 8-piece band done up in high sixties soul splendor. See them if you can. Not to be outdone, Paul Simon showed up at BAM last night with a 12-piece and about twenty singers, to do most of Graceland (the first CD Front ever had, right around when Discmans got invented, sometime in the Paleolithic, when he was young). The rapper in question caught that show too. Old folks danced in the balcony.

IFF Boston is next! Showings are the 23rd and 25th, with a Frontalot show at the swanky party afterwards. Party tickets are available! They're pricey, but there may be a special lottery over at NR:TM to get you a free one. Stay tuned.

4.6.08

The folks at AFI and ReelFX sure did treat the Frontalot band and NR:TM crews to a fine time in Dallas. The movie went over well! The concert also went over well, though it was entirely weird to perform for various glamorous movie peoples in an upscale boutique. Did one of Front's devoted nerdfans wipe his or her fancy-hors-d'œuvre-coated fingers on a rack-hanging $9,000 casual contemporary? Or was that Blak Lotus? So hard to keep track of fingers when the free booze pours so liberally.

New best pickup line Front's ever heard: "If you were a Magic card, I'd tap you."

Things to do while waiting for Atlanta and Boston screenings [see below]: play with knobs, make a robot, dramatize some HL fanfic, goon out in a classic mode.

Quote of the Week
"Never has a little boy sat so alone at his computer and busted out such in- conceivably thick rhymes. MC Frontalot has tapped the zeitgeist. It is with good reason that he is so very famous and rich."
